Are you getting excited about the solar eclipse coming up on August 21, 2017? My kids don’t know about it yet, but I am busy planning some great activities and a fun little party to celebrate. I’ve been scouring the internet for some great resources and products just for this event. Trust me, it’s never too early to play for this rare event.

This is the first time many people in my generation have seen or remember seeing a solar eclipse. The last one was 38 years ago on February 26, 1979. And according to reports, it wasn’t seen by many here in the U.S. because the weather wasn’t great and the path it took across the sky. However, this year the path will travel from coast to coast and should be visible by most of the United States. However, if you’re not on the path, you can always join the virtual viewing party at NASA. The NASA site also has some great activities near the bottom of the page, so be sure to scroll down.

As this phenomenon approaches, there are some great resources out there to help you make the most of the event, as well as create a plan for a spectacular viewing party. Whether you live in a peak city or will have to watch online, this is one event you don’t want to miss in 2017!
