ORANGE CITY, IOWA (KCAU) – Making its 19th overall NAIA national tournament appearance, Northwestern swept College of the Ozarks 3-0 in the NAIA opening round, advancing back to the Final Site of the NAIA Volleyball Championship Series at the Tyson Events Center for the 7th straight season.
The Red Raiders have completed 22 sweeps this year and they followed the trend with a strong start taking the first set 25-17.
More strength came at the net in the second set. Macay Van’t Hul and Savonne Sterk sent back a number of blocks as each recorded 6 blocks to lead the team on the day. Red Raiders continued to build on its comfortable lead as GPAC Player of the Year Jazlin De Haan increased the cushion with one of her match-high 19 kills.
Bobcats snuck in a point of their own but Zavyr Metzger swung the momentum back to NWC with a block of her own. Red Raiders take set two 25-8, going to score 10 straight points to win set three 25-13 to finish the sweep.
Northwestern notched its 4th straight NAIA opening round sweep to punch it ticket back to the Final Site at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City.
