Bandits Set Sights on Title Game

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (ABC9 Sports)–This season is all about redemption for the Bandits. Sioux City fell to Wichita in the 2014 title game, but they aren’t about to let another title slip away.

The Bandits beat Amarillo 83-52 on Saturday to advance to the inaugural CIF Championship game. League MVP Charles Dowdell threw for 136 yards and three touchdowns and Johnny Bentley rushed for three scores on the ground.

Sioux City is one win away from its first title game since 2012 and the guys are fired up.

“Feels great you know,” said head coach Erv Strohbeen. “We obviously brought these high-caliber players in and the goal is to win a championship. Now we have that opportunity.”

“Had a sour taste in our mouth over the past few years, kind of making it to the championship game, but getting knocked out a little early in the playoffs,” said Bandits defensive back Rahn Franklin. “

“We are hungry now,” said Franklin. “There is kind of a chant in the locker room, like lions, we hunt and we are after something.”

Saturday’s title game is set for a 7:05 kickoff at the Tyson Events Center.
