Velma T. Closson, 98 of Sergeant Bluff, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at a local Senior Living Center.
Services will be held 11 am Monday, June 16, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue, Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 10 am until service time on Monday.
Velma was born on May 21, 1916 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Hunt) Boulden. Velma was happily married for 80 years. She worked at Neisner Department Store for 10 years, then Yonkers as a Wedding Planner until 1978, when she retired.
She enjoyed cooking family dinners, canning, putting up Christmas decorations, making cookies, gardening, and Geology. Velma was very active in Siouxland Crafts.
Survivors include her daughter Nancy Pinney and her husband Richard of Sioux City, seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents, daughter and son-in-law Marlene and Bill Prichard, brother Charles “Ed” Clem, and three sisters Florence Boulden, Cloe Kerby, Flora Carlson.
