Sally Ann Barkley, age 76, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at her residence.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sioux City with Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:30 to 8:30 pm Thursday with the family present at the church and the Vigil Service at 7:30 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff. She graduated in 1956 from Hinton High School. On November 10, 1956 she was united in marriage to John Barkley in Bakersfield, California. The couple raised seven children.
Sally was a Mini farmer and worked waitressing for Rightmires, Taylor’s and for Bob Roe, Jr. She will be remembered in Leeds for Sally’s Sweet Corn. Sally enjoyed her family, quilting, Barbie Collecting and occasional Winnavegas visits.
Sally is survived by her husband John; three sons, Mike (Mary) Barkley of Sioux City, Maurice “Bomber” (Diane) Barkley of Overland Park, KS and Marshall (Ronda) Barkley of Roscoe, IL; four daughters, Monica (Scott) Sallinger of Roscoe, IL, Michelle “Shelly” (Kirk) Bohlke of Hinton, IA, Marcia “Dody” (Rob) McMahon of Roscoe, IL and Melinda Barkley and her significant other Randy Ryan of Sioux City; 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Sue (Gary) Kroll of Sioux City, other relatives and many friends.
