Just hearing those two words together will make any parent shudder, and with good reason.
Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is one of the most contagious childhood disorders.
The illness can be caused by a number of different things, including bacteria, viruses, and from allergens like plant pollen.
Pink eye is rarely dangerous, but it can be, if your child rubs on their eye continuously. That can cause serious trauma to their eye.
You should see a doctor if your kid develops the following:
- Visual changes
- Pain in the eye
- Intense redness
- If things seem to be getting worse instead of better.
Antibiotic ointment is the common treatment for curing pink eye, and warm compresses are sometimes recommended to make the affected eyes feel better.
