Online harassment and bullying online is nothing new, especially against women.

But a new project is taking aim at plus sized women, using photoshop to alter their picture to make them skinnier, and posting derogatory captions on them.

It is called “Project Harpoon,” and the group has taken aim at popular actresses Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Spy, and the Upcoming Ghostbusters film) and Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect, Bridesmaids). They also target plus sized models, and just everyday women.

Many feel that “Project Harpoon” is a hate group, and sends a wrong message to younger females.

But they say its a movement that supports being in shape and leading a healthy lifestyle, and they mean no harm.

Since the controversy erupted, Facebook and Instagram have shut down the pages, and say they do not support bullying of any kind.

On ABC9 News This Morning, Jessica Rae and Scott Larson discussed “Project Harpoon.”
