Astrounats Eat Home Grown Lettuce On The International Space Station

Space Lettuce

Outer Space (CNN) – You have heard of dried space food, but this is pretty ridiculous!

Astronauts are eating fresh on the international space station.

Astronauts are now eating fresh red romaine lettuce.

So you might be thinking to yourself, why is that special?

Well the fresh lettuce was actually grown on the International Space Station!

This is important because the concept of a space garden is necessary for future deep space missions, like the planned visit to Mars.

But it wasn’t a feast for the astronauts, only half the space harvest will be eaten.

The remainder will be packaged and frozen before being returned to earth for scientific analysis.
