GORDON, Neb. (KCAU) - A mountain lion was killed in Gordon, Nebraska after it entered into the city.
Monday evening, a mountain lion was reported in the city limits the northwestern Nebraska city of Gordon, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
The Gordon Police Department killed the cat. It was a 55 pound male and was about a year old.
The Game and Parks said that the police department's response was consistent with their policy for when a mountain lion is in a municipality.
Commissioners for the Game and Parks approved in June a hunting season for mountain lions in the Pine Ridge. Responding to concerns, the hunting season aims to lower the population density of the cat. It is scheduled for January 1 to February 28, 2019.
