World Champion Lumberjills are chicks with axes

Each year the folks at the Clay County Fair offer up plenty of free entertainment.  This year the bill runs close to $180,000.

There’s music of course, but also more exotic too.  There’s an alligator experience as well as a new crowd favorite, Timber Tina’s World Champion Lumberjills.

Tina Scheer is a world champion lumberjack. She and 3 other “Jills” have been on the road since January showing off their lumber skills.

This act features quick feet and strong arms. Logrolling and timber chopping is just part of the fun that is drawing big crowds.

Scheer says for years she lead the crusade for women’s lumber activities and now she’s making the most of it.

“I said I don’t want to compete against you guys.  I want to throw and log roll against your sister, your mother, and your wife.  And so I really got it started and put up the money the first 3 years of the world championships.  After four years the women were on the big show,” said Tina Scheer.

You can catch this act every afternoon at the fair just inside the C gate.
