A person has died after a three-vehicle collision in northeast Nebraska Tuesday night.
The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office said that they received the report Tuesday around 6:00 p.m of the crash on Highway 81 around mile marker 208, a couple miles north of the Highway 12 intersection.
They said that Marjorie Novak, 82, of Hartington, Nebraska, was driving a pickup south on Highway 81. She is said to have collided head-on with a northbound SUV driven by an unnamed Yankton man.
A vehicle driven by Brenda Saltzman, 52, of Sioux Falls, was driving north behind the SUV and then collided with its rear end.
Novak was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Yankton man had life-threatening injuries and was taken to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota before then being life-flighted to Sanford in SiouxFalls.
Saltzman and two passengers were taken to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Everyone but Novak was wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the collision.
