A woman was arrested after she allegedly stole a car and then proceeded to steal from a dollar store.
Eloise Blue, 43, was charged with second-degree theft, aggravated first-degree theft, and OWI-second offense.
According to court documents, a person pulled in the Kum N Go at Pierce Street in Sioux City and left their car running while they went inside Sunday around 9:30 a.m. Blue allegedly left the store and got into the running car and fled.
Just before 10 a.m., Blue went to the Family Dollar on Jackson Street. Documents say she filled a clothes basket with clothing and personal hygiene items totaling $99.24 before trying to leave. When confronted by a store clerk, she allegedly swung at the clerk. The two then reportedly wrestled and shoved each other before she fled in the stolen vehicle. The clerk had a cut on the chin.
Police found Blue stuck in the snow in the alley in the 1800 block of Nebraska Street. As police approached, she reportedly backed the stolen vehicle into the police vehicle. Police said that she smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot watery eyes, and was unable to stand on her own.
Blue refused all field sobriety tests. She has a prior conviction for OWI. She also has multiple non-payment of fines in Iowa and failure to pay child support. She is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a bond of $6,000.
