SIOUX CITY, Iowa - There are eleven new police academy graduates in Siouxland as of Friday afternoon.
Graduation ceremonies took place at Western Iowa Tech's regional law enforcement training academy.
The 11 graduates from various regional police departments all received their official certifications.
The group's training includes areas like fingerprinting and evidence collection to proper tactics for conducting a traffic stop.
"Well the families are extremely proud, you gotta remember in the United States about 1% of our population goes on to be in the military. A smaller percentage goes on to do law enforcement in the United States," said Steve Ebsen of the Regional Law Enforcement Academy.
This is the 27th group of officers to graduate from WIT's law enforcement academy.
