Monona County fire officials supplying bottled water after water main break

Local News

CASTANA, Iowa (KCAU) – The Monona County Sheriff’s Office said a water main break in Castana made the water unsafe to drink or to cook with.

They also said boiling water will not make it safe to use, and residents should use bottled water instead.

Bomgaars donated a pallet of free drinking water, and the Canasta Fire Station will be offering the bottled water to the community on Saturday starting at noon.

Officials claimed the water system will be tested on Monday to see if it’s ready to be used again.

Mayor Vincent LeClaire sends thanks to all the volunteers and firefighters who took the time to notify the community.

Residents of Castana that have questions can contact City Council or firefighters.
