WALTHILL, Neb. (KCAU) – Tribal officials in Walthill say two juveniles have been arrested for a string of recent vandalism around town.

Earlier this week, KCAU 9 spoke with leaders at the World Gospel Mission Church in Walthill who were concerned the vandalism to the church and vehicles of church leaders and attendees were targeted attacks.

Thursday, the Omaha Nation responded to the story, saying they do not believe the crimes are connected to the tensions between the church and the Tribe of Omaha, but a case of teenagers misbehaving.

“Our youth are finding that there are less things to do that there are less organized activities…ten years ago we had programs that encompassed adolescents, young you know, preteens, kids. unfortunately, our programs have waned, and they’ve gone by the wayside too, Omaha Nation Community Response Team Chairman Calvin Harlan said.

Harlan said there are no further details on the vandalism arrest as it is an ongoing investigation.
