UPDATE: Sioux City Woman’s Death Being Investigated as Homicide

UPDATE:
VERMILLION, SD (ABC9 NEWS)- The death of a Sioux City woman found dead Monday afternoon in rural Clay County South Dakota is being investigated as a homicide. According to Clay County Sheriff Andy Howe, 29-Year-Old Alicia Hummel’s body was found by a State Park worker near the boat ramp at Myron Grove Monday afternoon. The Sheriff said that Hummel’s body was in the water at the time it was discovered. 

An autopsy was performed on her body on Tuesday, and authorities are awaiting the results. 

Authorities say they are interested in speaking with anyone who may have spoken with or made contact with Alicia Hummel on Sunday or Monday. They would also like to speak with anyone who was at Myron Grove, also known as Highlines, on Monday regardless of whether or not they saw anything suspicious. 

Investigators are also interested in obtaining more information on a car spotted in the area around the time they believe Hummel was killed. The vehicle is described as a dark colored sedan with tinted windows and a loud exhaust. 

Anyone with information regarding the case is being asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 605-677-7100. 

A Candlelight vigil for Alicia Hummel is being planned for Wednesday night on the East High football field starting at 9 P.M.

VERMILLION, SD (ABC9 NEWS)- Authorities in Clay County, South Dakota are investigating the suspicious death of a 29-Year-Old Sioux City woman found dead near a recreational area Monday afternoon. 

29-Year-Old Alicia Hummel’s body was found near a boat dock at Myron Grove, otherwise known as the Highline Area just outside of Vermillion Monday afternoon.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help with any information on suspicious activity in the area on Monday afternoon between the hours of 1 and 3 P.M. Investigators believe that a dark colored sedan with tinted windows and a loud exhaust system may have been involved.

Anyone with information pertaining to Hummel’s death is being asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 605-677-7100.
