UPDATE: Names are released from deadly Yankton car accident

Names have been released of the five victims who died in Wednesday’s tragic two vehicle crash in Yankton.

A Yankton police officer was trying to pull over a car on highway 50, when the driver turned off his headlights and turned into the opposite lane, hitting an oncoming vehicle.

Two people in the car behind pursued by police, we now know, are 29-year-old Michael Worlie, and the passenger, 27 year-old Joshua Odens. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither were wearing seatbelts.

Three of four people in the other car also died. They were the driver, 40-year-old Tawna Reineke, and two passengers — 40-year-old Chad Reineke, and 10-year-old Janicka Luschen. All are from Yankton and were wearing seat belts.

The fourth occupant, whose name is not being released, is a 12-year-old girl. She was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where she remains hospitalized with life threatening injuries.
