SHELDON, Iowa (KCAU) – After two trucks went into a ditch Tuesday afternoon, both drivers were taken to a hospital.
The crash occurred about a half mile south of Sheldon on Highway 60 around 12:55 p.m., according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
They said Alvin Kats, 74, of Sheldon, was driving a straight truck north with Joshua Howrey, 47, of Rockwell City, Iowa, driving a semi and hauling a grain trailer behind Kats before allegedly then hit his vehicle. Both drivers then lost control and went into the east ditch. Kats truck ended up on its side.
Both Kats and Howrey were taken to the Sheldon Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The straight truck had about $10,000 in damage and the semi had about $30,000 of estimated damage.
The sheriff’s office cited Howry for following too close.
