As Siouxland continues to dig out after our weekend snow, state troopers also had their hands full.
Troopers across the tri-state area responded to hundreds of snow-related calls.
Nebraska State Patrol responded to 49 crashes and assisted more than 220 motorists along the roads.
“Our troopers and dispatchers were busy all weekend with weather-related incidents,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Responding to incidents during a winter storm can be dangerous for first responders, facing the elements and potential of secondary crashes in the area. Drivers should always use caution and move over when emergency vehicles are present.”
In Iowa, troopers responded to 104 crashes over that 48-hour period and assisted 100 motorists.
South Dakota troopers received 61 calls, mostly being motorist assist calls. Of the call, 25 were from around the Vermillion area. Overall in the state, there was only one crash resulting in injury..
