TransCanada expects to start construction next year

Local News

The developer of the Keystone XL pipeline says it’s moving forward with plans to build the pipeline along an alternate route approved by Nebraska officials.

TransCanada announced Thursday that it hopes to begin construction on the Nebraska portion of that pipeline next year.

The alternate route approved by Nebraska regulators last November is longer than the company’s preferred route and cuts through the middle of Madison County.

Once completed, the pipeline would carry oil from Canada through South Dakota and Nebraska before continuing on to gulf coast refineries.
