This week as we ‘Stuff the Stroller,’ we’re sharing more about a critical part of the Crittenton Center’s mission. They operate the Emergency Youth Shelter.
The shelter is the only one of its kind in Northwest Iowa and they take kids from all three Siouxland states, serving about 400 children each year.
Children end up there for a variety of reasons including: abuse or neglect, family problems, parents who are arrested, or because their homes are red tagged.
The Emergency Shelter cares for newborns up to 17-year-olds. They average about 24 kids a month in these room.
