Storm Lake is under a Winter Weather Advisory, but last night it was under a Winter Weather Warning and expecting inches of snow. Anticipation was building in Storm Lake, as people prepared for the worst.
Bread and milk were going quickly at a local grocery store as empty shelves were having to be restocked.
People have also been filling their cars up with gas and making hotel arrangements to get into work easier in the morning. John Campbell, a Fareway employee tells us they had a steady stream of folks stocking up throughout the day.
“It’s just been busy, until 8:00 with people coming in, buying everything they can get their hands on… snacks and stocking up on all kinds of stuff. It’s been super busy all day. Let’s hope we don’t get the storm, but if we do, the people are ready; they’re all stocked up,” said Campbell.
Campbell says this is a pattern they typically see whenever snow comes their way – its always better to be safe rather than sorry.
Additionally, one of Storm Lake’s largest employers, the Tyson Pork Plant canceled their first and second shift production lines for Thursday.
