A Storm Lake woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly left her child on someone’s doorstep.
The Storm Lake Police Department (SLPD) issued the below release detailing the incident:
On the evening of Wednesday January 17, 2018, at approximately 5:15 p.m., SLPD Officers took a report of a belated child endangerment that occurred on January 17, 2018, at approximately 2:42 a.m.. Officers spoke with the reporting party who advised Deeanna Ramos, 22, of Storm Lake, had left her 3-month-old child on a doorstep on the 1100 block of North Seneca Street and then left the area. Ramos reportedly sent a text message to the reporting party stating that she was going to drop off the child at the residence. After receiving the text message the reporting party went to the front door of the home and found the child alone in a car seat located on the front steps.
At approximately 7:30 p.m.SLPD Officers located Ramos at her apartment on the 1800 block of West 5th Street and took her into custody. Ramos was charged with Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor and booked into the Buena Vista County Jail. She was held on $2,000 bond.
The incident was forwarded to the Department of Human Services.
All defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
