A Siouxland fire station recently acquired two new vehicles.
The Storm Lake Fire Department now has a new general purpose pumper truck and a new quick attack fire truck. The new vehicles replace the old vehicles, which are 37 years old and 32 years old respectively.
Having budgeted for $700,000, the department accepted a bid of $661,337.
Equipment will be transferred to the new vehicles and firefighters will train with them.
The vehicles are expected to be in full service later this week.
The process to get new vehicles and equipment is usually an 18 to 24 month process, and the fire department said they are thankful to the city administration and officials for funding and approving the purchase of the vehicles.
