Six people are dead after deputies say a man went on a shooting spree in Southern California.
The Kern County sheriff says the gunman was with his wife when he confronted another man at a Bakersfield trucking businesses. That’s when the situation escalated. The suspect shot and killed both his wife and the man, before chasing down a witness and shooting them as well.
The gunman fled to a nearby residence where he killed two more victims inside. The suspect then hijacked a car with a woman and child inside but they were able to escape. He turned the gun on himself when confronted by authorities on the highway.
Investigators are still trying to piece together a motive behind the shootings. The gunman and victims have not yet been identified.
