Summer camp is a popular getaway for many Siouxland kids during summer months.  Last week, KCAU9 showed you a tech camp aimed at encouraging interest in science.

Now some students are participating in a week long culinary camp learning all about cooking. Western Iowa Tech Community College is putting on culinary camp for students between the sixth and eighth grade.

At a cooking demonstration Monday afternoon, Chef Ali Lampman showed the kids how to eat healthy.

“What we did for the kids today was we did a chef demo.  We go out to the schools, we have 50 schools, and we actually do a live demonstration during the lunch hour.  That’s what we did for the kids today, we made a vegetable lo mein.  We have the fresh ingredients there, and the kids get to watch me cook it live, and then they get to enjoy the treat,” said Chef Ali Lampman.

The Lunchtime Solutions is working with fifty area schools to teach kids about making healthier eating choices.
