Siouxland governors get a firsthand look at major flooding

The governors of Nebraska and South Dakota Friday took in Siouxland’s flood fight first hand.  Governor Pete Ricketts touching down in Norfolk Nebraska early in the morning and then touring the flood zone where water is now receding. Ricketts warning though that it is still a dangerous situation..

In South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem first checking out Gavins Point Dam upstream in Yankton, before meeting with property owners in Dakota Dunes.  The governor saying she does not expect a repeat of 2011’s massive flooding.

“We don’t believe we have that situation today.  We do know there were improvements made for infrastructure so we’re better prepared.  We think the levels coming at us are something we can manage. But we are being extra cautious,” said Gov. Noem.
