A financial institution ins Siouxland is looking to help federal employees that are living without a paycheck.
Siouxland Federal Credit Union is helping customers in the form of short term-zero interest loans.
Any federal worker on furlough can apply for a $5,000 loan with zero interest for up to four months.
President Joel Steenhoven of Siouxland Federal Credit Union said that they are happy to help those in need.
“As a credit union we’re here to help our members and we make a lot of smaller loans to help people with things like rent and utilities and all those type of things. And we knew that there would be some out there that would need this help and so we came forward to do that,” said Steenhoven.
Anyone affected by the shutdown is encouraged to reach out to the bank to see what kind of help is available.
