A jail in Siouxland was recognized for being one of the best in the state.
The Sioux County Jail received an award from the Iowa Department of Corrections, recognizing it as one of the best-midsized jails.
The award is given to the best jails that exceed the state’s requirements.
Lt. Jason Bergsma and Jail Commander Judy Plendl have presented the award in Des Moines at the Iowa State Sheriff’s and Deputies Winter Conference.
“We want to recognize and congratulate all of our Sioux County Jail Correctional Officers for their part in doing great work leading to this honorable achievement,” Lt. Bergsma said.
The jail was nominated by the state jail inspector who conducts annual inspections on all of Iowa’s jail facilities.
