A  Sioux City classic is set to take place in February.

The 15th annual River-Cade homemade cardboard sled race will be taking place February 10 at Cone Park.

No wood, steel or plastic sleds will be allowed in this race for sledders. Age groups for the event are 6-years-old and under, 7 to 10-years-old, 11 to 14-years-old, 15 to 17-years-old; and 18-years and older.

Racers will compete in their own age group. Trophies will be awarded to the winners. Also, $50 will be awarded to the most creative homemade sled in each age group.

Siouxland River-Cade, the Sioux City Noon Sertoma Club and Sioux City Parks and Recreation are organizing the event.

Only so many three-by-four flat cardboard sheets are now available at the Sioux City Parks and Recreation office.

Tom Padgett of Sioux City Sertoma Club was in the KCAU 9 News Studio to talk about the event.
