Sioux City waste collections will be pushed back a day. The city also announced when they will be picking up Christmas trees and remind residents that wrapping paper, gift boxes, and cardboard is recyclable.
The city of Sioux City issued the below release with the details of the schedule:
Due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays on Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1 there will be no garbage, yard waste, or recyclables collected on those days. Garbage, yard waste, and recycling collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.
The Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed Saturday, December 23 through Monday, December 25, reopening with regular winter hours on Tuesday, December 26. The Citizen’s Convenience Center will also be closed on Sunday, December 31 through Monday, January 1, 2018, and will reopen with regular winter hours on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
Christmas Tree Disposal
Christmas Trees will be accepted for curbside collection during the first two weeks of January. Trees should have all decorations removed and cut into four foot (4ft) lengths. A single use waste sticker will not be necessary for Christmas trees during this two-week time frame.
Additionally, trees may be taken to the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center and dropped off in the lower parking lot through Sunday, January 14. The trees must be completely undecorated – no lights, plastics, ornaments, flocking – and no plastic bags. Wreaths will not be accepted. Trees will be chipped and used on trails throughout the park. The Nature Center is located at 4500 Sioux River Road (Highway 12).
Cardboard & Wrapping Paper
Don’t forget that all wrapping paper, gift boxes, and cardboard is recyclable! These items may be placed in your curbside recycle container. A recycle container may be requested free of charge by calling Citywide at 712-279-0151. To request a magnet with recycling information please call 712-279-6222.
