A snow emergency has been declared for Sioux City.

Mayor Bob Scott made the declaration which will take effect beginning 11:59 p.m. on Friday.

During the snow emergency, vehicles are prohibited from parking or leaving a vehicle unattended on an emergency snow route street. The streets are noted by a blue and white sign with a snowflake.

Residents are encouraged to remove vehicles from on-street parking where possible. If they do park on the road, citizens should park on the even side of the street on even days of the month after 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. the following day. On odd days, residents should park on the odd side of streets. Vehicles found to be parked on the wrong side could be towed at the owner’s expense.
