SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Dozens of people spent part of their Thursday afternoon raising money for a Sioux City police officer who recently lost part of his leg.

A 14-year veteran of the Sioux City Police Department, Bruce Hokel broke his leg after he fell off his roof last month. After severe complications, that injury resulted in a below the knee amputation.

Hokel’s goal is to return back to work. He wants to show his five children that nothing can stop him.

“To provide for them so that they don’t have wants and problems and also to let them see success and its something they can learn from,” said Hokel.

He is hoping to be back at work in June. If you would like like to help the family you can donate to their GoFundMe page
