Sioux City National Guard to host Warrior Career Day

The Iowa National Guard’s Headquarters and Headquarters Troop (HHT), 1st Squadron, 113th Cavalry, will host Army National Guard Warrior Career Day at the Iowa National Guard Readiness Center, 3200 2nd Mech. Dr., Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday, October 19.
Warrior Career Day will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. More than 140 students are expected to participate in this year’s event, complete with a helicopter display and interactive presentations with modern military gear. Students will also receive a free lunch while attending Warrior Career Day.
Soldiers representing all Military Occupational Specialties in western Iowa will be available to talk with high school students about what they do as Iowa National Guard Citizen-Soldiers, while offering hands-on familiarity with today’s high-tech military equipment, such as body armor, communications equipment, and night-vision goggles. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the LRAS3 (Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System), a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter, and other military hardware will be on display. Of particular note, extensive information regarding significant college educational benefits provided to members of the Iowa National Guard will also be available.
Sioux City area high schools expected at the event include: Hinton; Lawton-Bronson; River Valley (Correctionville); Sergeant Bluff-Luton; Sioux City North; Westwood (Sloan); and Woodbury Central.
