Sioux City Fire Rescue crews put out fire in rain

Local News

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A fire broke out Wednesday in Sioux City at 706 21st Street.

Sioux City Fire Rescue crews received the call just before noon, according to Assistant Fire Chief Dan Cougill. He said the fire was in the attic of the three-story residence was quickly extinguished once they got to it.

He said there were issues with getting to the fire though. Due to powerlines, they couldn’t use an aerial ladder, so they carried a ladder inside. Not being able to gain access from the inside, they went outside and opened the roof, which had multiple layers.

Cougill also said the rain made things more difficult.
