There’s good news for the Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council or SIMPCO. The agency was awarded a 7-million dollar grant to help with operations, and bus storage on Tuesday.
The funding is part of a 1-point-5 billion dollar “Build” fund announced by the U-S Transportation Department. It focuses on nationwide infrastructure revitalization.
According to a transportation department press release, SIMPCO will use it’s 7-million dollar grant to build a new facility to house the Siouxland Regional Transit System and SIMPCO buses.
That building will include a bus maintenance area, indoor bus storage, a bus wash, and driver training areas.
SIMPCO officials declined to talk about the grant award Tuesday.
