Authorities have released new details in the Lennox, South Dakota murder-suicide that occurred Tuesday.

Lennox Police Chief Orville Jorgensen says Stephanie Hoover, 35, killed the adult male and the 8-year-old boy before turning the gun on herself.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the killings, and believe Hoover lived in the home on South Main Street where the murder-suicide took place.

Authorities have not releasing the victims’ names.

Neighbors say the family had moved into the home earlier this year.

The couple had other children who were in school at the time of the shooting deaths, who are now in the custody of relatives.

The sheriff says it’s unclear why the 8-year old boy who died wasn’t also in school.

Lennox School is offering counseling for students who knew the family.
