Sen. Thune visits southeast SD company

Local News

United States Senator John Thune of South Dakota was in Siouxland Wednesday.

Thune took a tour of Aaladin Industries in Elk Point, South Dakota.

Aaladin is one of more than 500 companies nationwide that has handed out bonuses and wage increases to its employees in part because of recent tax cuts.

Thune was a leading voice during the tax reform debate, even helping author the legislation.

“As a company, it’s a great example of a small business, family owned. Its been very well established for 30 years,” Thune said. “And there’s a lot of families that benefit from the work that they do here. We want to make sure that its easier not harder for them to grow and expand, and create those better paying jobs and raise those wage levels for their employees. “

Thune went on to say that small businesses like Aaladin are great for the economy, and that these recent tax cuts are only making businesses stronger.
