Safety tips for Halloween night

Local News

Your kids are excited, their costumes are ready, but do they know the rules of Halloween night?

Safety may not be the first thing on a kids mind during Halloween, but it is for most parents.

Which is why the police department is urging the public to take preventive measures that will keep kids safe this Halloween.

“We tell parents to only go to houses where there is a porch light lit, not to enter a home. Don’t ever enter a vehicle for candy and all those types of things,” Crime Prevention Officer, Andrew Dulter.

Other helpful tips include keeping costumes fire resistant and creating eyeholes large enough to see out of. If your kids are going out alone-plan a route and agree on a time they’ll be home.
