ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (KCAU) – A Rock Rapids man now faces an arson charges after an investigation that he allegedly started earlier in the month.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office say that new charges have been filed against Alex McIlvenna, 21, of Rock Rapids, has been charged with second degree arson, a class C felony.
In an ealier release, they say they started an investigation on July 7 of a Rock Rapids underage drinking party. As a result of their investigation, two people were arrested.
Since McIlvenna had been arrested in Sioux County on July 10 on unrelated charges and was being held int he Sioux County jail, Lyon County applied for arrest warrants against McIlvenna. They were for six counts of supplying alcohol to persons under legal age, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV or V drug to a person under the age of 18, an aggravated misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
John Diener, 64, of Rock Rapids, was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After further investigation, the Sheriff’s office say that at the July 7 party, McIlvena got into a fight with another person. They also say that there was a car fire at the 500 block of South Randall Street in Rock Rapids, and authorities say it had been intentionally set.
McIlvena is already in the Lyon County Jail on previous charges. His bond is currently set at $12,000 cash or surety.
