A local town’s only grocery store went up in flames Sunday morning.
The small town of Remsen, Iowa only has one grocery store and early in the morning the town watched as Farm fresh FoodTown and Liquor was destroyed by a severe fire.
The fire started at around 4:15 a.m. Remsen Assistant Fire Chief Mark Gaskill said smoke could be seen coming from the building when they had arrived. Firefighters were battling the fire for nearly five hours but unfortunately the grocery store was a total loss. Officials say after an investigation, they determined the cause of the blaze to be faulty electrical.
