RAW VIDEO: Sheriff releases dash cam video of Tuesday’s high speed chase

Local News

Woodbury Count Sheriff’s Department releases dash cam video from Tuesday morning’s chase.

The chase ended in a rollover that injured two people. 36-year-old Justin Derby is facing several charges in connection to the incident.

Authorities say the incident began a little after 9:00 Tuesday morning when Derby failed to pull over for a Woodbury County Deputy near Sloan. A chase ensued, and Derby fled the Deputy at speeds approaching 117 MPH.

According to court documents, Derby attempted to pass a semi truck in a no passing zone, and when he got into the left lane found himself in the path of an oncoming semi. Authorities say that Derby turned the vehicle into the ditch where it rolled.

The Onawa man then led police on foot across a field and jumped into a sewage lagoon. He eventually surrendered to deputies. Derby is currently being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office released the dash cam video of the pursuit. Click here to see the entire video/
