Plans for Splash Pad at Leeds Park moving ahead after community meeeting Tuesday

Local News

Future plans for a Sioux City pool brought swimming enthusiasts to Leeds Elementary School Tuesday night.

Built in 2000, Leeds pool is one of the cities newest swimming pools, but because of low attendance numbers the city plans to close it after this summer.  The city plans to replace the pool with a splash pad.
Tuesday night neighbors and other users got the chance to let city staff know where they want to see the pad built.

“Leeds Park is the most visible, that was the plan from this group that they would like to see the splash pad go so we’re gonna move forward at Leeds Park and do what we can there. The input that they provided was very valuable so we’re gonna be able to do a lot with what was done here tonight,” said Sioux City Park and Rec Director Matt Salvatore.

Salvatore says other improvements are also planned for Leeds Park.  The city has allocated $200,000 dollars for the project.
