After more than seven months of construction, traffic is again flowing on Pierce Street near Unity-Point Health St Luke’s in Sioux City.
Hospital and city staffers gathered for a ribbon cutting and lighting ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
The project rebuilt the roadway and sidewalks on Pierce between 24th and 29th Streets. The new addition also re-worked how traffic flows along the hospital’s entrance.
“I think it’s actually better for the drivers, when I’ve driven through it’s more wide open and away from the hospital. The sight lines are much better for the crosswalks, it just feels more comfortable and it doesn’t really slow you up to much. It’s a good feel driving through,” says Unity-Point St Luke’s CEO Lynn Wold.
The project cost around $4 million dollars to complete.
