Orange City man defecates in patrol car after arrest

ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – An Orange City man allegedly defecated in a patrol car as he was being taken to jail for assaulting an officer.

Court documents said that Saturday around 2:40 a.m., an officer identified himself before Keaton Van Der Weide, 23, slammed a door on the officer’s arm. The incident happened at Van Der Weide’s residence at 204 14th Street SW.

Van Der Weide allegedly resisted arrest and spit on the officer while being taken to jail. He also is said to have then defecated in the patrol vehicle. The documents said he did so as to force the officer to clean it. 

Van Der Weide was charged with assault on a person in a certain occupation and assault on a person in a certain occupation causing injury. He was booked into the Sioux County Jail and has since been released on bond.
