Opening statements in Olson murder trial

After two days of jury selection, the murder trial of a Rosalie, Nebraska resident is now underway. 

Derek Olson, 28, is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree arson for the death of Ernest Warnock back in 2017.

Olson and his father Jody Olson are accused of breaking into Warnock’s house. A fight between the men allegedly broke out, and Derek Olson is accused of stabbing Warnock several times in the neck and head. The Olson’s then allegedly set the home on fire.

“At the end of the case, ladies and gentlemen, we will come back before you and we will ask. for a verdict and we will ask for a guilty verdict on all counts,” said Special Deputy Cuming County Attorney Michael Guinan. 

Derek Olson has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
