EMMETSBURG, Iowa (KCAU) – The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s office recently purchased new equipment that they say will assist them going forward.
Through a grant from the Palo Alto County Gaming Development, the sheriff’s office bought two Scout III Thermal Handheld Monoculars. The devices work by picking out the different heat signatures.
They say that the technology will help them to find people. They say it can be used in incidents when a person is ejected from a vehicle or when someone flees. They also say they can be used to find heat sensitive evidence or to assist in finding suspects in no-light or low-light situations.
They said the monoculars will aid them in many ways as well as assist and serve the citizens.
