SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Morningside students got a little old-school Tuesday to prepare for a day of vinyl radio.
Mass communication students practiced using only vinyl records at their radio station, KMSC. It’s a part of a national promotion for college radio called “Vinyl-thon” that takes place this weekend. It’s different from the computers and CDs the student DJs are used to running their radio off of.
“You get a new experience with vinyl that you don’t necessarily get from the MP3s, the CDs so I think it’s awesome that we’re able to put those back on the airwaves because it’s really bringing that experience to everyone.”
The college radio station will be using only vinyl records to play music from midnight to midnight this Saturday. If you’d like to listen, just turn your radio dial to 92.9 FM.
