SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – UPDATE April 2, 8:09 p.m.: MidAmerican Energy Company has reported that power has been restored to the Morningside area of Sioux City.
UPDATE April 2, 7:45 p.m.: MidAmerican Energy has reported that 351 people in the Morningside area are still without power on Friday night.
According to the company’s outage map, the estimated time to have power restored in the area is about 8:15 p.m.
UPDATE April 2 6:52 p.m.: MidAmerican Energy is reporting that 510 customers in the Morningside area of Sioux City are still without power.
According to the company’s outage map, they have crews working on the outage and the estimated time of restoring power is around 7:40 p.m.
Sioux City Police told KCAU 9 that a man was driving in the 5100 block of Glenn Avenue at around 5:45 p.m. when he became distracted, crashed into a utility pole, knocking it down.
Authorities reported the driver drove away from the crash and was caught a short distance later at Ridge Avenue and South Rustin Street.
Officials reported that the driver didn’t sustain any injuries and a section of Glenn Avenue, South Lemon Street, and South Cypress Street is currently blocked off.
UPDATE April 2 6:30 p.m.: MidAmerican Energy is currently working on the power outage in the Morningside area of Sioux City.
The red dot in the photo is on Glenn Ave with 1,627 customers currently impacted and the power is set to be restored around 6:50 p.m.
The orange triangle on the map said that are affecting 361 customers in the Morningside area are affected.
PREVIOUS April 2, 2021 6:08 p.m.: MidAmerican Energy Company is reporting that more than 2,000 customers in Sioux City are currently without power.
According to the company’s outwatch map, there are 2,137 customers who are impacted by this power outage which started at 5:45 p.m.
MidAmerican Energy said the estimated time for the power to be restored is around 8:15 p.m.
