Miracle On Ice: 1980 Olympic Hockey Team Reunites

Lake Placid, NY (WFFF) The remaining members of the 1980 USA Olympic men’s hockey gold medal team gathered in Lake Placid to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice.

“How intimidating that team could be. However Herb said one positive thing, and I think it was the only positive thing he ever said. And it goes like this, ‘You were born to be a player, a hockey player. You were meant to be here, this moment is yours. No go out there and take it,” said Mark Wells, 1980 U.S. Hockey Team member.
Saturday night, for the first time since defeating the Soviet Union and going on to win a gold medal, every surviving member of the 1980 US Men’s Hockey team reunited.

But not every member of the 1980 US Men’s Hockey team is here to celebrate. Bob Suter died in September. But they decided to honor him, but hanging his jersey in the rafters of the Herb Brooks arena.
